On Monday, Jan. 26th, the Emergency Services Homeless Coalition will have its "point-in-time" homeless census and survey. Joe and I and some of our guys will be doing the survey in Springfield, again, this year. We are to begin taking count at 8:30 pm which is significantly later than last year to ensure that we are not simply counting people who will be counted later at a shelter. So if you see us wandering around, driving up and down alleys, do not be alarmed.
In addition to the street count, we have a list of homeless camps provided by several agencies, but if you know of any in Springfield, please PM me and let me know so that they can be included in the count.
This count is important because it is the basis by which Jacksonville gets federal and state money to deal with the homeless in our midst.
