Cool City Council District 10 Analysis

I believe a new thread is needed to discuss potential candidates and their characteristics. It has been suggested that JOL find a candidate for the upcoming special election, or, I suppose, back one that is announced.

For background, see this and this.

Let the fun begin.

This is the District 10 map: http://coj.net/NR/rdonlyres/eytpnz62...trict10Map.pdf

There are 34,524 registered voters in CC10. 23,676 are Democrats. 6,167 are Republicans. 4,681 are independents. 77.27% are Democrats; 17.86% are Republicans.

61.25% of registered voters are African American; 31.77% of voters are white.

This is just on the back of a napkin. If you give me a few more hours, I can crunch turnout, compare elections, and get you the necessary winning vote-goals for each of the 18 precincts in CC10.

Someone get me a candidate and I can get them elected.

I think this is a very good idea Jimmy and look forward to everyone's input. I think this city can do without another round of Holzendorf. There has got to be someone out in the community that can do a good job, bring fresh ideas and input. There is a need as well for educating the community about other options and to start to walk away from "business as usual" in Jacksonville. This city needs a serious breath of fresh air and to send a very strong message to the status quo that there is a new day coming. Correct me if I am wrong, but Holzendorf is connected to the group of black Democrats that consistently have held power in certain areas of town isn't he? If that is true, people need to open new doors.

I am more than tired of recycling the same names through these positions. This City will never advance if we keep bringing back the same leadership time and again.

I agree Jimmy. There is also a greater chance that some of these former council people also bring with them the attitudes that were acceptable in the past and part of business as usual. That is a disconcerting thought. Business as usual is not going to cut it in our fine city anymore. We need new blood, free from political bindings to a particular group who will do what is right for the people and not what they want for themselves and their friends. That has happened far too long and this city has suffered greatly for it. A NEW DAY BABY!!!!!
