Did King & Betty Holzendorf Fleece King's Campaign Donors?
Sep 04, 2008 - 2:29 PM - by rpschutt
King Holzendorf may have failed in his bid to return to the Jacksonville City Council, but all was certainly not lost for the Holzendorf family.

Mr. Holzendorf's final expenditure reported on 08/21/2008 was $3,000.00 to Betty Holzendorf (his wife) for "Distribution of Campaign Handouts in the Community."

This type of expense is unprecented in what I have seen as I have... [Read More]
Daniel Davis: Jacksonville has "sorry churches"

The subject being debated was whether it's a proper use of taxpayer money to provide scholarships for low-income children attending the Don Brewer Early Learning Center.

The back-and-forth had been going on for a long time when Davis spoke for the

Well, I may be one of the first posters to visit JOL with the new google chrome browser. The beta version became available this afternoon at http://tools.google.com/chrome/intl/en-US/welcome.html

I will try to make this more of a user review than a technical review.

I am an avid Firefox user, and have even managed to figure ways around using IE on even those pages that require it by... [Read More]
Rules for Jax out loud
Sep 01, 2008 - 12:28 PM - by mcsmith2006
Jimmy - I appreciate the rules & guidelines for this site - I find it to be much more intelligent and thought provoking than some of the others I've read. I stubbled upon this site because of the public defender's race, but I continually read the other threads and post. Thank you & the others for keeping this site out of the gutter.
Encouraging Trends
Aug 27, 2008 - 9:31 AM - by rpschutt
There are a lot of things that can be taken away from the August 26 elections, but foremost among those things would be hope. Times Union - Hits "Newspaper" status

I am pretty blown away with the Times Union endorsing Manuel, Plotkin and Crescimbeni - to name a few radical changes in the paper. These are solid, progressive leaders that would have been branded liberal commies under the Cannon administration. TU'ers have gone against the grain and left the Republican Guard along the side of the road.

The days of "the benefits of global warming" and... [Read More]
What Sucks?
Aug 12, 2008 - 10:37 PM - by dizzy blonde
I have some opinons about What Sucks in the city, state, country and world we live in.

So....Here goes

What Sucks;

a beautiful Chinese girl is singing during the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. Beautiful voice and sweet child. The whole thing was a scan/sham. It turns out the singer was Yang Peiyi, but the officials decided at the last minute her teeth were not as beautiful as maybe, Lin Miaoke so she was presented on television and... [Read More]
